"A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master; it is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Be-el'zebul, how much more will they malign those of his household. So have no fear of them; for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. What I tell you in the dark, utter in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim upon the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell...So every one who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven; but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven."

Sobering words from our Lord don't you think? These words of our Lord are exactly what I was trying to get at in yesterday's post about my brother priests. Of course all Catholics have a responsibility to bear witness to our Faith but the clergy have even more responsibility to do so because we will be held to a higher standard when we are judged by our Lord. A priest who knowingly does not bear witness to the fulness of the Truth is in some way denying our Lord and could very well be condemning himself to eternal separation from God. Therefore, pray for your priest, especially if you know him to be theologically weak. But, if he is outright heretical and unwilling to change then by all means pray for him but go to another parish in order to protect yourself and your family.
